Race: Xenon
Society :
Little is known of this aggressive species save from intelligence gathered from destroyed ships. Xenon ships appear to be highly complex robots controlled by Neural Network based computers spread throughout the body of the ship. These computers appear to be capable of independent action although research suggests thay also share a collective intelligence via a subspace data network, each ship acting like a cell in a body - independant but part of the whole. Whatever the organisational details of Xenon forces they are ruthless, efficient combatants and have caused chaos and terror with hit-and run tactics since being driven back to deep space by the Argon.

Biology and Origins:
Little is known of the Origins of the Xenon. It is widely thought that they are the result of a failed experiment by one of the Ancient Species to create an self-maintaining and intelligent robotic workforce. Common sense suggests that any species advanced enough to create artificially intelligent machines would build safeguards and failsafes into the very core of the machines neural networks - ensuring their benign attitude towards their masters. We cannot rule out the possibility that the Xenon's distant genesis was the result of sabotage or massive, unexpected, failure of the machine's operating software.

Technology and Industry:
Xenon technology is geared towards one thing - creating more Xenon - each generation more deadly than the last. During the Xenon Conflict the Argon noticed with horror the speed at which the Xenon adapted to their defensive strategy. Each wave of Xenon assault ships was faster, better shielded and tactically more efficient than the last.

The Xenon are thought to share a collective intelligence that forms part of each Xenon's consiousness. Although each Xenon can operate efficiently as a single unit they can also 'merge' with other Xenon, all tactical decisions being based on their combined intelligence. An entire squad or even entire fleet can act as one massive, unstoppable entity. The subspace carrier beams used to transmit the Xenon command and data protocols have proved almost impossible to jam or intercept.

Although the Xenon have always relied on fairly standard electro-crystaline technology for their computer 'brains' wreckage discovered recently by a deep space probe seems to suggest they may be experimenting with Paranid organic technology. By using electro-crystaline processors threaded with living majaglit 'data veins' to improve the speed of learning and evolution it is possible the Xenon are about to evolve to a new level of intelligence.

Character:
A Xenon appear to have no sense of self - save for a tactical understanding of the individual differences in operational parameters between units. They appear identical. Taken as a whole the Xenon are a cold, efficient species with no understanding of compassion, mercy or conquest. They seem to exist only to destroy life and fill the galaxy with their kind.
