Expanding Cargo Bay
|
|
It is not possible to increase the physical size of a ship's cargo bay for structural and field
integrity reasons - however, subspace compression technology makes possible the storage of more
cargo than the hold could physically contain in normal space. A subspace field generator
increases the distance between the cargo's molecules in relation to each other in time, allowing them
to be closer together in space.
The installation of additional Cargo Expansion Modules allow a greater displacement on the time axis but
the complexity and power of the modules required for greater displacement mean cost also increases greatly.
The effects of subspace compression on living organisms is unresearched but does not seem to adversely affect
Space Flies.

Trading Ship Upgrades
|
|
Only Space Equipment Docks have the facility
to remove weapons, shields or upgrade components from a ship. Some upgrades cannot be removed from a ship once
installed.

Salvaging Abandoned Cargo
|
|
A great source of income is the debris found after a fire-fight. Often Pirates are routed before they
are able to collect the spoils of their battle and scavanging can help you out when credits are low.
Cargo crates appear on the Tac-Nav system as a broken green box - [ ].
Approach them at a reasonably low speed, keeping them within the bottom half of your cockpit. Open your cargo bay -
<O> - and as you pass the crate it will be loaded into your cargo bay which should then close automatically.
You can check the cargo in advance by targeting the crate - <T> to ensure you do not pick up contraband
cargo.
Remember that shields are de-activated while cargo bays are open.
Check you have space in your hold! It may be an idea to leave a little space in your cargo bay in case you come across
any abandoned goods - scavanged goods are 100% profit.
