The alt.pets.hamsters newsgroup is a great, friendly place to find out anything you would want to know about hamsters. Hi to all the regulars!

Hamsters make great pets - they are clean, cute, funny and relatively easy to look after.

I have kept hamsters since I was about ten years old and am rarely without one.

I am alergic to most hairy mammals (dogs, cats, rats and so on) but seem to have no problem with my hamsters.

I have kept both the larger Syrian and the smaller Dwarf varieties and both have their good points.

At the moment I have a couple of Russian Dwarf Hamsters. Despite being sisters one is small, sleek, grey and the most hyperactive creature I have ever seen while the other is big, fat, dumb, lazy and will attempt to eat anything that moves and sleep on anything that doesn't.
