Personal Introduction I am an intelligent, creative and diligent IT professional primarily experienced in developing, documenting and maintaining web and intranet based applications using LAMP technologies as well as TCP/IP network administration and systems administration for Unix/Linux servers and clients and Windows clients. I have a lifelong love of technology and am both keen and quick to learn new I.T. skills both at home and in the workplace. Employment History

May
2003 - June 2009
|
Employed
by Veterinary Solutions Ltd as a Development Engineer.
|
|
|
Veterinary
Solutions Ltd are the leading UK developers/suppliers of practice
management software and I.T. solutions for the veterinary
profession. My position involved research and development of new
products and technologies as well as systems administration,
infrastructure planning, network management, security planning,
information management and software engineering both for the
company and their hundreds of client sites. I primarily worked
with Linux, SCO OpenServer and Windows systems and developed using
Perl, PHP, MySQL and shell scripts. I acted as a member of the
company management team representing the Unix development
department. My position became redundant due to company
reorganisation.

IBS
developed and produced unique Linux based Internet connectivity
and management systems tailored for SMEs, educational
establishments and business centres. Following on from some
contract work I was offered full-time employment with the company.
Heavily involved in all technical aspects of the company my duties
included administration of Win98/Linux LAN/WAN infrastructure as
well as product development, construction, testing and on-site
installation, user training and technical support. Unfortunately
the company was forced to downsize in July and I was made
redundant. The company ceased trading six months later.

by Electronic Commerce One as an Assistant Systems Administrator.
Promoted to Infrastructure Manager in March 2001.

A
highly respected e-commerce consultancy, EC1 provided a full range
of services from investment sourcing to full implementation of
e-commerce projects. Although primarily responsible for the
company's LAN/WAN infrastructure (Win95/98/NT/2K, Linux, Solaris,
MacOS) I was also heavily involved in our client's e-commerce
projects at both a development and project management level. From
mail, web and DNS server management for 100+ client companies to
development of major e-commerce projects this position offered a
vast array of challenges and opportunities to expand my skills
base. Due to a major client defaulting on payments the company
went into liquidation in August 2001.

|
Aug
1998 - Jan 2001
|
Self
Employed Web Developer.
|
|
|
My
company provided strategic planning and implementation of a solid
web presence for SMEs. Operating as a sole trader I managed the
sales, marketing, promotion and administration tasks for the
company as well as planning, design, development, implementation,
administration and promotion of client's web sites. I also
provided support services such as e-mail solutions, domain name
management and infrastructure planning and implementation. Sadly I
was forced to leave self-employment due to lack of sales.
